Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar chose the Kolkata Knight Riders playing XI prior to the 2020 IPL opener against the Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.
The former starter included star foreign players Sunil Narine, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell and Pat Cummins on his team.
Gavaskar believes Morgan’s addition to the middle order will bring stability to hitting and Russell’s big hits will make him a shoo-in for either side of the T20.
Sunil Narine is coming off a winning season with the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League and he will be full of confidence, while Pat Cummins would be willing to show that he is worth the large amount of money that KKR paid for him.
Following these selections, Gavaskar chose Dinesh Karthik as the patron of KKR and also endorsed Nitish Rana at the number 3 position, saying that his overall skills could be of great use to the franchise.
“Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine will be my four foreign players. After that, I would like to see Captain Dinesh Karthik batting in the middle order. I will support Nitish Rana in position number 3. He can also bowling, so of course he should be in the KKR playing XI, “Sunil Gavaskar told Sports Tak.
