Suicide has no solution, the government is taking action on the Maratha quota: Pawar | India News

PUNE: Head of NCP Sharad Pawar on Friday he appealed to the Maratha young people, saying that suicide was not a solution to the reservation issue, and assured that the state government was taking steps to rescind the provisional order of the Supreme Court to remain implementation of quota granted to the community.
He was speaking to reporters at Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) in Pune.
“I would like to appeal to the young generation that suicide is not the way. The state government’s position is 100 percent in favor of the reservation and is making every effort to have the Supreme Court order that it suspended the implementation of Maratha quota, “said Pawar.
He said he has been having discussions with a prominent lawyer. Kapil sibal about the topic.
“We are trying to present the state government’s position on the Maratha quota in the apex court to help remove anxiety from people’s minds, “he added.
When asked about his great-nephew Parth Pawar’s position on the issue, he said that anyone can approach the court.
“Even if 10 people go to court, it will help the state government’s case. Ultimately, our goal is to have the suspension lifted,” he said.
Parth Pawar, who called the suicide of a young Maratha from Beed from Maharashtra “tragic”, had said on Twitter that he would file a request for intervention with the Supreme Court on the Maratha quota issue.
The head of the CPN further said: “Senior Deputy Minister Ajit Pawar told me that he and CM Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting on the issue.”
“The state government has already addressed the court against the suspension and is insisting on the appointment of a separate court,” Pawar said.
Last month, the Supreme Court suspended the implementation of the Maharashtra law of 2018 granting reservations to Marathas in education and employment and referred the case to a larger court. The Maharashtra government had said on September 21 that it had submitted an application to the higher court, seeking a vacation from the stay.
Meanwhile, before attending a meeting at the VSI, Pawar visited the Serum Institute of India (SII).
The 79-year-old leader said he got a BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Gurin) vaccine administered in IBS on Friday morning to boost immunity.
Pawar also said that the COVID-19 vaccine, made by IBS, will arrive in January next year.
