‘Start dialogue’: Mehbooba Mufti asks the Center after the bombing at LoC


The head of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, said on Saturday that the leadership of India and Pakistan should overcome their political compulsions. She was reacting to the bombing on the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday in which eight Pakistani soldiers were killed.

“It is sad to see the increase in victims on both sides of the LoC. If only the leaders of India and Pakistan could overcome their political compulsions and initiate dialogue. Restoring the ceasefire agreed and implemented by Vajpayee ji and Musharaf sahab is a good place to start, ”the PDP chief said on Twitter.

On Friday, eight Pakistani soldiers were killed and 12 others wounded after the Indian army attacked Pakistani positions along the LoC in northern Kashmir in response to heavy bombardment by the neighboring army that killed eight Indians, four civilians and four members of the security staff. said people familiar with the development.

The Indian army destroyed Pakistan’s ammunition depots, fuel depots and terror launch pads, they added.

Casualties on the Pakistani side included two commandos belonging to the Special Service Group (SSG), they said.

Friday’s altercation at the LoC comes at a time when India is already in a border dispute with China along the Royal Line of Control (LAC) in Ladakh. Although a disengagement plan between the two countries is being discussed, no crucial progress has been made so far.

On Tuesday, Mufti had asked the Center to hold a dialogue with Pakistan in an attempt to end border skirmishes and restore peace.

Mufti also said that militancy is increasing in Kashmir, adding that a dialogue with Pakistan and stakeholders in the Kashmir valley was required to restore peace.
