Questions arose about the quality of the ink used to seal passengers landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi after a congressional leader shared images of the ink stained and causing what appeared to be an adverse allergic reaction in his skin. National Secretary and Speaker of the National Congress of India Madhu Goud Yaskhi took to Twitter and tagged the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and tweeted: “Dear @HardeepSPuri, could you please check the chemical used at the airport from Delhi to stamp passengers coming from overseas? Yesterday I was stamped on @DelhiAirport and this is what my hands look like now.
He attached two photos with the tweet.
In response to his tweet, Hardeep Puri said, “Thank you for bringing this to my attention.” He added that he had spoken with the president of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

In response to Puri, Madhu Yaskhi said, “Thank you for your prompt action. I hope no other passenger passes it.”
Madhu Yaskhi is a leader of the Hyderabad Congress. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he had unsuccessfully faced Telangana Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha for the Nizamabad MP seat. The choice was won by BJP’s Dharmapuri Arvind.
Meanwhile, the Delhi airport also responded to the message. In a statement on Twitter, the official airport identifier said: “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused. The ink used for the stamping is a standard indelible ink. We have reported the problem to the Delhi state authorities. Currently, this batch of ink it is kept aside for the vendor to test and perform other desired actions. Thank you for highlighting this issue. “
Stamping is carried out at certain airports in the country, in line with the quarantine rules established by state governments.
Meanwhile, with an increase of 75,829 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, India’s total count on Sunday crossed the 65 lakh mark, data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) showed.
According to the latest data, 75,829 more cases and 940 more deaths in 24 hours brought India’s total cases to 65,49,373 and the death toll from COVID-19 to 1,01,782.
