Special feat for an Afghan player: Rashid Khan after winning ICC T20I Cricketer of Decade award – cricket

Star spinner Rashid Khan says that winning the ICC T20I Cricketer of the Decade award is a special achievement for a player from an emerging country like Afghanistan. The 22-year-old leg thrower was the most wicket-winning at the T20 Internationals in the past 10 years with 89 scalps averaging 12.62. He had three sets of four wickets and two of five fors during this period.

“I am speechless after this award. For someone from Afghanistan who receives this award, it is a special moment for me, for my country and for my fans, “he said in a video message posted on ICC’s Twitter page.

He said his focus now would be on improving his hitting skills for years to come. “I have played for five years and my goal is to play another 10 years and continue to do well. Bowling has done well for me and in the next few years I will focus on contributing to the bat as well, ”he said.

Speaking of some memorable performances, he said: “I have so many memories at T20 cricket. I was 5 of 6 against Ireland, including four wickets on four balls. That was a memorable performance.

“I cannot forget my performance in the 2016 T20 World Cup, in which I was second in the number of carriers. The victory against the eventual champions of the West Indies was also memorable. I took two wickets in that match and Marlon Samuels’ wicket was the best in that World Cup.
