New Delhi: A South Korean-based company has established an Indian subsidiary in Manesar de Haryana and launched five lakh antibody rapid test kits now available for use as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Company President Young-shik Cho asked Sripriya Ranganathan, India’s ambassador to South Korea, on Tuesday to discuss the company’s activities and plans to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move came a day after sources at the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) said India will obtain from South Korea at least five lakh rapid test kits. Shipments from Humasis Ltd are expected. they arrive in four batches starting April 30 as part of the core group and will be delivered to the states.
Rapid test kits help examine whether a person has developed antibodies in their bloodstream to fight the new coronavirus, indicating whether a person has been exposed to or has COVID-19.
The South Korean company that increases production in India is gaining importance as Chinese-made coronavirus rapid test kits have repeatedly been found to be defective and have yielded inaccurate results.
On Tuesday, the Rajasthan government stopped using Chinese-made coronavirus rapid test kits, and the state’s health minister, Raghu Sharma, said they only gave 5.4% accurate results against the expectation of accuracy. 90%, so they were not beneficial. Following a complaint from some other states, the ICMR advised states not to use these kits for two days until it comes out with a new notice.
Ranganathan had indicated that India is likely to benefit from South Korea’s manufacturing plans after the Covid-19 crisis and how the world does business.
“I am hopeful that in the coming months this will obviously not be an immediate development, but in the coming months more Korean companies will see the merit of establishing their manufacturing in India so that they can meet India’s huge demands right there. , from there, “he had told CNN-News18 in an exclusive telephone interview from Seoul.
In a post-COVID-19 scenario, countries like the United States, South Korea, and Japan, which rely heavily on China, are looking for alternatives, and India could emerge as a preferred destination, provided it can step up the game.
Ranganathan also said that South Korea has greatly stepped up its production of COVID-19 test kits to meet current requirements. She said: “In the coming weeks and months, we should be able to take advantage of this capacity and this very positive sentiment towards India to be able to improve our supply from there.”
