Sourav Ganguly meets with West Bengal governor amid speculation about his entering politics | India News


CALCUTTA: BCCI President and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Sunday he held a one-hour meeting with Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankhar, what sources in Raj bhavan he described it as a “courtesy call” and said it was not political at all.
However, with the assembly elections in the state scheduled for April-May next year, it has been speculated that he could join politics.
While Ganguly did not answer questions about the reason for his visit, Dhankhar said they had a discussion on “varied topics.”
The governor also said he accepted the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) the president’s invitation to visit Eden Gardens stadium here.
Raj Bhavan sources said that Ganguly’s meeting with Dhankhar has nothing to do with political developments in the state.

“I had an interaction with the president of ‘Dada’ @ SGanguly99 @BCCI in Raj Bhawan today at 4.30pm on various topics. I accepted his offer to visit Eden Gardens, the oldest cricket ground in the country established in 1864,” tweeted the governor.
Ganguly arrived at Raj Bhavan around 4.30pm and the meeting lasted one hour.
