BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will grace the field again as a player when his team takes on Jay Shah’s team in a cricket match on the eve of the board’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled for December 25, in the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Former IPL president Rajiv Shukla will be the referee in the match to be played on Wednesday (December 23) according to sources. Members of the BCCI electoral board, present in Ahmedabad for the AGM, will also participate in the tennis ball game practice match.
Motera is the largest cricket stadium in the world with a capacity of more than 1.14,000 seats. The renovated stadium has yet to host any competitive matches and will do so in February when England visit India.
Various important topics related to Indian cricket will be discussed at the 89th BCCI AGM. Preparations for the team’s tour from England to India, the resumption of national tournaments and the inclusion of two new teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be on the BCCI AGM agenda.
While BCCI remains interested in adding two new teams to the tournament, it is understood that the IPL 2021 season will be played with the 8 regular teams and bids will be invited for the addition of two new teams from the 2022 season.
According to sources, Mahim Verma from Uttarakhand Cricket Association, Devajit Sekia from Assam Cricket Association, Pranav Amin from Baroda Cricket Association, Hyderabad Cricket Association are among the 28 members of the BCCI electoral board that will be present at the AGM.
