Sonu Sood has been winning the hearts of millions as she has worked tirelessly over the past few months to send people in need the help they need during the COVID-19 lockdown.
From sending hundreds of thousands of migrants back home to helping students stranded in different parts of the world with free education and medical help, Sonu has been hands-on these months.
The Bollywood actor has now received the prestigious ODS Special Humanitarian Action Award by the Planning Department of the Government of Punjab with the support of the Center for Coordination of Sustainable Development Goals.
The award was thought to have been awarded by UNDP, but the UN organization issued a statement refuting the claims. Read the statement here:
The award was presented in a virtual ceremony on September 29.
“This is a rare honor. A UN recognition is very special. I have done the little that I have done, in my humble way, for my compatriots without any expectations. However, being recognized and awarded feels good. I fully support UNDP in its efforts to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Planet Earth and humanity will greatly benefit from the implementation of these goals, ”said Sonu Sood, receiving the coveted award.
