On Friday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appeared to lose his cool in the Bihar assembly, following a sharp personal attack on him by opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Tejashwi Yadav referred to the 1991 murder case, in which CM has been given a clean fine, the controversy over a book in CM’s name, the Srijan scam, among others.
There was a palpable malaise on the treasury banks. The 31-year-old leader, whose party emerged as the largest party in the recently concluded elections, also referred to Nitish Kumar’s mockery of ‘8-9 children’ during the campaign.
Nitish Kumar seemed very displeased as soon as Tejashwi Yadav rose once again to rebut after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary clarified the charges and urged the president to prevent members from making unsubstantiated charges.
“I urge the President to remove objectionable and unsubstantiated comments from the proceedings, as despite clear court orders, unsubstantiated allegations are being made against the House leader,” Choudhary said.
However, spokesman Vijay Kumar Sinha said he would examine the matter and then take action. At this point, Tejashwi again reiterated its accusations.
CM Kumar, angered by the constant assault on his image, rose to defend himself.
“He is making absurd accusations. He’s lying. I was silent for too long as he happens to be the son of a brother-like friend. I did not speak, hoping he would make amends, ”Kumar said as treasury and opposition leaders huddled at the well and nearly came to blows before the bailiffs intervened.
“He must know that it was I who made his father the leader of the Legislative Party. He even became the deputy CM because of me, and he has the nerve to talk like that. He had asked him to explain the corruption charges against him, but he did not. Everyone knows the court orders in my case and is still repeating lies. He tolerated everything, but now it is too much ”, said the CM.
As the pandemonium continued, the bailiffs intervened. The president adjourned the House session for half an hour. It is the last day of the five-day session.
Since the beginning of the session, the opposition has been on the offensive and had also forced the election for the position of Spokesperson, which also witnessed postponements and furor.
