Some protesters threw a slipper at Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday as he made his way to his helicopter after heading to a demonstration in Muzaffarpur district, Sakra.

Muzaffarpur East Police Deputy Superintendent Manoj Pandey told News18 that the slippers were pointed at the helicopter. However, Kumar was nowhere near the helicopter at the time and therefore the culprits missed the target. Police have detained at least three people accused of causing disturbances at the prime minister’s rally, the sources said.

A week ago, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav suffered a similar fate when an unidentified person threw slippers at him during his demonstration in Aurangabad. A video of the incident went viral even when the shoe missed the target for a very short space.

As supporters of the RJD leader searched for the person who threw it, another sneaker landed on Tejashwi’s lap. The person was not identified because there was a large meeting.

Tejashwi Yadav’s supporters, however, noted that the sneakers were thrown from the front row to the other side of the stage.
