Singer accuses UP MLA, her son, nephew of rape, case filed: police

A case has been brought against three men, including Vijay Mishra and his son.

Bhadohi:

A case has been brought against three men, including the NISHAD MLA party Vijay Mishra and her son, for allegedly raping a 25-year-old singer in Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The NISHAD party is an ally of the ruling BJP.

Bhadohi Police Officer Ram Badan Singh said the singer alleged that in 2014 Mishra had called her at her home for a show, when he raped her and threatened to kill her if she ever spoke about the incident.

She alleged that in 2015 she was raped in a hotel in Varanasi. She also claimed that once after raping her, Vijay Mishra told her son and nephew to leave her home, but they both allegedly raped her before taking her back.

The singer filed a complaint at the Gopiganj police station on Sunday after learning that Mishra was being held in Agra prison in connection with a land grabbing case. His wife and son are co-defendants in the case.

Mishra was transferred to Agra Central Jail from Chitrakoot Jail about three weeks ago.

In August, Vijay Mishra, his wife, and their son were indicted on several serious charges, including property hoarding over a complaint by their relative Krishna Mohan Mishra. Ramlali Mishra (MLA’s wife) is at liberty after obtaining advance bond from the superior court, while her son is on the run after his bail statement was rejected.

Mishra was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police and subsequently imprisoned.
