Shreyas Iyer after scoring 88 of 38 balls

After a losing streak in the previous match, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer came back strong in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Sharjah. Iyer anchored the innings for Delhi Capitals when he scored an undefeated 88 in 38 deliveries to help his team reach a total of 228/4.

KKR started their chase on a poor note as they lost Sunil Narine early once again. Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana then added crucial runs for the team before Eoin Morgan and Rahul Tripathi started a late attack but lost the match by 18 runs.

I wouldn’t say I’m a talented player: Shreyas Iyer

By virtue of the victory, Delhi Capitals moved up to the top spot of the 2020 IPL points table with six points. Iyer said it was necessary for him to take time out at the beginning of his inning, which he couldn’t in the previous game. He also said that his smart work paid off and that he wouldn’t call himself a talented player.

“It was really necessary for me to take time at the beginning, which I also did in previous games. It was the right time to face the bowlers and then rotate the strike after that as well. Luckily it worked for me. I know the hard work and smart work that I have put in in my gym sessions, so I would not say that I am a talented player, ”he said in the post-game presentation.

“We keep talking about close victories and this was one of them. Really pleased with the way everyone stepped forward. “

Delhi Capitals will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday in Dubai. A win can help them further consolidate their position at the top of the table.
