In explosive WhatsApp chats accessed by Republic TV between Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty and a friend from October 2019, Showik admits that he knows drug dealers: Zaid Vilatra and Basit Parihar. Zaid was previously arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
In a series of conversations between Showik and the drug dealer, he admits that he has hashish in his possession. He also names drug dealers like Karamjeet, Raj and Suryadeep in the chats.

NCB arrested Zaid, a suspected smuggler with “ties” to the drug trafficking case related to the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, on Wednesday. The man identified as Zaid is understood to be involved in supplying narcotics such as buds or cured marijuana to high-end party circles in Mumbai.
An OCN task force from Delhi, led by KPS Malhotra deputy director (operations), is camping in the western metropolis to carry out the investigation. The team also includes officials from Mumbai agencies and has been constituted by the Director General of the NCB, Rakesh Asthana.

ABOUT ZAID VILATRA
The detainee has been identified by the federal anti-narcotics agency as Zaid Vilatra. Indian currency worth Rs 9.55,750 and foreign currency (US $ 2,081, GBP 180, Dh15) were recovered from it, which according to the NCB are “products of drug trafficking”.
“Zaid revealed that he runs a restaurant in Bandra that was not making any pecuniary profit since the closure. He also revealed that he is involved in drug trafficking, especially the bud, through which he used to earn a substantial amount of money,” said the NCB. According to the NCB, the best quality buds sells for about 5,000 rupees per gram.
Zaid went under the scanner after the agency arrested two people, Abbas Lakhani and Karan Arora, in another narcotics case on August 27 and 28 in Mumbai and recovered a shipment of buds from them. Lakhani had “ties” to Zaid, the NCB claimed.
