Showdown on Twitter: Fans and Critics of Prime Minister Modi clash after he takes the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine | India News

NEW DELHI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on Monday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He reportedly received Covaxin, India’s homegrown coronavirus vaccine developed by biotech firm Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council for Medical Research.

PM informed his followers by posting it on their social media profiles.
“It is remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in such a short time to strengthen the global fight against Covid-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to receive the vaccine. Together, let’s make India Covid-19 free! tweeted.

Many Indian Twitter users, including fans of PM Modi, praised him for leading the country by example.

But Modi’s critics were unsettled by the coverage he received.

Some even fed conspiracy theories

Many saw politics in that

And some of the congressional fans thanked India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, for building AIIMS where Modi was vaccinated.

“It was all gimmicks,” said a youth Congress leader.

How could Twitter not have memes and jokes for a situation as big as PM getting his first jab from Covaxin?
