International shooter Vartika Singh has moved a court here accusing Union Minister Smriti Irani and two others of demanding money to make her a member of the central women’s commission, days after she herself was named in a police complaint.
The MP-MLA court here has set January 2 for a hearing after which it will decide whether the case falls under its jurisdiction, according to its lawyer.
The shooter alleged that people close to the minister sent her a false letter, naming her as a member of the central commission for women, a possible reference to the National Commission for Women.
She alleged that Vijay Gupta and Rajnish Singh, the Union Minister’s two “assistants”, initially demanded 1 crore rupees from her and later reduced the amount to 25 lakh rupees.
He also alleged that one of the men spoke to him in an obscene manner.
However, on November 23, Gupta lodged a complaint against the attacker and another person at the Musafirkhana Police Station in Amethi District, accusing them of bringing unfounded charges against him and trying to spoil his image.
Based on the complaint, the police had filed an FIR against him.
However, Vartika Singh claimed that the complaint was filed after she threatened to report “corruption”.
