The head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharad Pawar, wrote on Tuesday to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the letter from the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, to the State’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, saying he was “shocked and surprised “by the language used.
Governor Koshyari had written to Thackeray on Monday regarding the reopening of places of worship in the western state. Pawar, who is an ally of Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, spoke about the “intemperate language” used by Koshyari.
“In the preamble of our Constitution the word ‘secular’ is added which equates and protects all religions and, therefore, the president of the Chief Minister must uphold such principles of the Constitution. Unfortunately Hon. The governor’s letter to the chief minister invokes the connotation as if it were addressed to the leader of a political party. I firmly believe that in a democracy, the free exchange of opinions between the Hon. Governor and the Hon. The prime minister must take place, ”Pawar said in his letter to Prime Minister Modi.
“However, the tone and tenor used must always be in line with the stature of the constitutional office held by individuals. Observing the turn of events, the Chief Minister, in fact, had no choice but to publish his response to the honorable governor in the press. I fully support the decision of the Honorable Chief Minister on this issue, ”he said.
The PNC leader said that he has not discussed this matter with either Koshyari or Thackeray, however, he felt that “I must share my pain with you and the public over the erosion of standards of conduct by the high constitutional office of the Hon. . Governor.”
Pawar also added the governor’s letter to Thackeray in his letter to Prime Minister Modi. “You have been a great devotee of Hindutva. You had publicly embraced your devotion to Lord Rama by visiting Ayodhya after assuming the post of Chief Minister. You had visited the Vitthal Rukmini Mandir in Pandharpur and performed the puja at Ashadhi Ekadashi, ”Koshyari had said. “I wonder if they are getting some divine premonition to keep putting off reopening places of worship over and over again or if they have suddenly gone ‘secular’, the term they hated.” the governor had asked.

Thackeray responded to Koshyari’s letter on the matter and said that he does not need a “certificate” in Hindutva from the governor and that his Hindutva does not allow him to receive a person who called Mumbai ‘occupied Pakistan Kashmir’.
The last part of Thackeray’s letter was an apparent reference to Koshyari’s meeting with Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut in September after many Maharashtrian politicians criticized her for comparing Mumbai to PoK. Ranaut had made the comment criticizing the Mumbai police for their investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
