Bhopal:
Madhya Pradesh Prime Minister Shvraj Singh Chouhan has come under fire from the opposition and has been accused of “plagiarism” for a poem he shared on Twitter last month when his father-in-law died.
Chouhan’s father-in-law, Ghanshyam Das Masani, died on November 18 at the age of 88. Four days later, the BJP leader shared a few lines from a Hindi poem titled “Bauji“(Respected father) – on his Twitter account to pay tribute, and said it was written by his wife Sadhna Singh.
However, the social media post has sparked controversy after a Madhya-Pradesh writer and branding expert, Bhumika Birthare, claimed it was her poem. “I’m like your niece, what are you going to get by stealing my poem. This poem was written by me. I hope you don’t violate my rights as”Mom“She is known for protecting rights,” she said on Twitter Monday, labeling the chief minister, popularly known as “Mama-hee‘ (uncle)’.
“Please give me credit, sir. The poem is written by me and its title is” Daddy “and not”Baauji“Do not do injustice to my feelings for my father,” he said in a series of tweets, also tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to NDTV, Ms Bithare said that she had written the poem when she was grieving the loss of her father. “I wrote what happened while I was performing the last rites of my father. I used the notepad on my phone to write and the date and time were mentioned. I also shared it in my WhatsApp family group,” he recalled.
Please give me the credit sir @ChouhanShivraj . The poem is written by me and its title is “Dad”

“On November 21, I posted the poem on Facebook after returning to Bhopal. My friend shared a screenshot, saying that the Chief Minister’s wife, Sadhna Singh, had shared the poem on a WhatsApp group … I only replied with a smiley face. But after that I found out that the Chief Minister also tweeted the poem, giving credit to his wife. I have a strong objection to this … you are my mom, my favorite. I don’t want to politicize this. Everything what I want is credit for what I wrote, “he added.
Criticizing Chouhan, former trade union minister and congressional leader Arun Yadav said: “The BJP is an expert at renaming. Previously, they used to rename schemes introduced by the congressional regime, but now the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is showing a poem written by someone else like his wife’s. “

The BJP state unit declined to comment on the controversy, saying it was a “personal matter.”
The first lines of the poem shared on social media say: “Jiske kandhe pe baith kar ghooma karti thi, use kandha de kar aayi hoon, uske mathe ko choomkar, zindagi ki nasihten lekar aayi hoon. (I used to sit on his shoulder but today I offered him a shoulder in his last rites. I kissed his forehead and took life lessons) “.
