Aurangabad:
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s comments on the leadership of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) may destabilize the Maharashtra government, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said on Tuesday.
Raut’s remarks have irritated Congress, which is part of the Seine-led ruling coalition in the state, Athawale said while speaking to reporters.
Mr. Raut had said last week that all anti-BJP parties should join the UPA. He had also said that the head of the PCN, Sharad Pawar, was capable of leading the UPA, currently headed by the president of the Congress Sonia Gandhi.
“(Mr) Raut said that Sharad Pawar should lead the UPA, which has angered Congress leaders. As a result, Congress may withdraw its support and the government of Maha Vikas Aghadi may collapse,” said Athawale, an ally. of the NDA.
“We have no plans to overthrow this government. But if it falls, the NDA will certainly form a government in the state,” added the RPI (A) leader.
Regarding the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) citing (Mr.) Raut’s wife in an alleged money laundering case, Mr. Athawale said: “The ED is a government organization, but it is independent. The government does not has no motive to harass anyone through ED. “
The current agitation of farmers against the new agricultural laws does not have support throughout the country, said the union minister.
“There is a provision to amend a law and it can be done after dialogue with the farmers. Sharad Pawar has been in the government for many years and should interact with the leaders of the opposition parties and inform the government about the amendments they want. The government appreciates your contributions, “Athawale said.
