Mumbai:
Sanjay Raut, caught on camera with an expletive in his tirade against actor Kangana Ranaut, has been appointed Shiv Sena’s chief spokesperson.
The Rajya Sabha member has, in recent days, lashed out at Kangana Ranaut for his comments comparing Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and has even said that he should stay out of Mumbai.
Sanjay Raut, also executive editor of Shiv Sena spokesperson ” Saamana ”, will lead a team of spokespersons that includes Lok Sabha MPs Arvind Sawant and Dhairyasheel Mane and Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi.
Sanjay Raut has not apologized for throwing an abusive term at Kangana Ranaut, but admitted in an interview that his choice of words could have been better.
“He may have made a mistake,” Sanjay Raut told NDTV.
“Kangana also makes these mistakes, we’ve seen them several times,” he added, apparently referring to the 33-year-old actor’s comments about feeling unsafe in Mumbai.
“I said if you don’t have faith in the Mumbai police and administration, if you call our police mafia, why are you staying here?”
Raut also criticized the BJP government at the center for providing Y-Plus category security to Kangana Ranaut, which means that she will have CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) commandos guarding her 24/7. .
“If the center believes that a person who speaks in derogatory language about the Maharashtra of Chhatrapati Shivaji and Mumbai of Mumba Devi, if they believe it is right to give him security, so be it. If the National Commission for Women believes that this woman should getting safety in this country is up to them. But the people of Maharashtra are watching, “Raut said.
He also challenged Kangana Ranaut to present evidence if he knew anything about the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
The actress’s dispute with the Maharashtra government was sparked by her criticism of Sushant Singh Rajput’s handling of the investigation and her comment that she felt unsafe in the city. In a backlash, Sena and NCP leaders, including the state’s Interior Minister, Anil Deskhmukh, said he should stay out of Mumbai if he felt like this.
Ms. Ranaut then doubled down on her offense, wondering why “Mumbai looked like PoK”.
Since then he has faced protests and threats from the Seine.
