The residence and office of Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik were raided by officials from the Directorate of Enforcement Tuesday morning in connection with a money laundering investigation.

A statement from the director of ED said searches were being conducted at 10 locations in Thane and Mumbai on properties owned by developers of Tops Group, which runs a security services company. Sarnaik’s son’s office was also a target of the ED raids.

Sena spokeswoman Priyanka Chaturvedi accused the Center of misusing central agencies to “silence opponents.” “ED is reduced to enforcing only the whims and fantasies of the center. Our determination to fight only grows stronger. Go ahead. (SIC), ”he tweeted.

Sarnaik, who represents the Ovala-Maijwada constituency, filed a motion for violation of privileges against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, and also requested the reopening of the investigation into the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik, who he left a note accusing Goswami and two others of not paying their fees.

Goswami spent nearly a week in jail on charges of suicidal complicity after the Maharashtra police reopened the suicide case. The Supreme Court granted him bail earlier this month.
