Mumbai:
The Shiv Sena has called on the Center to take measures to stop the use of loudspeakers in mosques to curb noise pollution. An editorial in the Sena spokesman “Saamana” said that the issue is noise pollution and environmental protection.
“The Center should enact an ordinance to stop loudspeakers in mosques to prevent noise pollution,” he said.
The comments came amid a dispute over the suggestion by Shiv Sena Mumbai-South vibhag pramukh (division chief) Pandurang Sakpal to hold aAzaan“Recital contest for Muslim children.
The editorial said that the BJP’s criticism of the Sena leader praised “Azaan“It was akin to describing the farmers who were agitating (against the new farm laws) on the Delhi borders as” Pakistani terrorists. “
He said that most of the agitator farmers are former soldiers or those whose children are defending the country’s borders now.
“What to expect from these people who call farmers terrorists. Trolls say that Shiv Sena has renounced Hindutva, but photos are published of them (BJP leaders) eating Eid delicacies,” the Marathi publication said.
“We do not want to politicize this because the 22 million million Muslims in the country are Indian citizens,” he added.
He also said that despite the passing of a law against the slaughter of cows, their sale, purchase and consumption is legal in the BJP-ruled states of Goa and the northeast.
“If this is not vote appeasement, then what is?” the publisher asked.
In defense of the leader of the Seine, Sakpal, the editorial said that he had only suggested to a Muslim foundation that it carry out a “Azaan“competition for people not to crowd outside and celebrate rituals and festivals digitally from home.
