Share market news today | Sensex, Nifty, stock prices LIVE: National equity markets started the day with new all-time highs. Sensex hit 51,326 for the first time while Nifty 50 was trading above 15,000. Mahindra & Mahindra was the top winner from Sensex, up 7%, followed by SBI, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank. NTPC and Bajaj Auto were the only two Sensex stocks in the red. Volatility rose 2.69% even though equity markets were rising. Wider markets followed.
To boost the pandemic-hit economy, the Indian government is committed to higher capital spending not just in the next fiscal year but over the next three years, said senior economic adviser Sanjeev Sanyal. He added that a sharp increase in capital spending in the recently announced Union Budget reflects the government’s economic strategy of rebuilding battered demand while ensuring that the supply side expands enough to move together. The government has budgeted for capital expenditures of Rs 5.45 lakh crore for fiscal year 22, which is 26.2% higher than the revised estimates for this fiscal year.
