New Delhi:
Before the Bihar assembly elections, the daughter of Loktantrik Janata Dal chief Sharad Yadav, Subhashini Yadav, joined Congress on Wednesday in the presence of local leaders.
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader and former MP Kali Pandey also joined Congress.
Both are likely to compete in the next assembly elections in Bihar and seek tickets from the Congress party.
Subhashini Yadav, a social worker, said she takes responsibility for continuing the “Mahagathbandhan” fight in Bihar, as her father Sharad Yadav has always supported her.
“I thank Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for giving me this opportunity. Sharad Yadav is not actively participating in the Bihar elections, as he is not well. He has always supported the ” Mahagathbandhan ”. It is my responsibility to lead forward this fight and take Bihar to greater heights, “he said.
Kali Pandey, who passed from the LJP, said it was a homecoming for him, having previously extended his support for former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1984 when he was a member of the Lok Sabha.
“I am honored to have joined Congress,” he said.
In 1980, Pandey won the Bihar Vidhan Sabha elections as an independent candidate and then won the 1984 Gopalganj parliamentary elections in the state.
“This is my old home and I am happy to be back in my old home,” he said.
The head of the Bihar Congress, Madan Mohan Jha, and the AICC Congress secretary in Bihar Devendra Yadav welcomed the leaders into the party fold.
