Sharad Pawar Receives Income Tax Notice For Voting Affidavits | India News


MUMBAI: NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said Tuesday that the Income Tax department has served him with a notification regarding his voting affidavits submitted to the Election Commission.
Speaking to reporters here, Pawar said the Income Tax department has sought his “clarification and explanation” on some of the affidavits provided by him.
“I received the notice yesterday … We are happy that (the Center) loves us from among all the members … The notice was delivered by Income Tax after the Electoral Commission (it) requested … We will respond to notice, “he said.
He was responding to a query about reports that his daughter and Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule, Maharashtra Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Minister for the Environment Aaditya thackeray he had received similar notices from the Income Tax department.
Pawar also played down reports of measures to impose the president’s rule in Maharashtra.
“Is there any reason to (impose the president’s rule)? Is the president’s rule a joke? He said, adding the ruling. Maha vikas aghadi Combine has a clear majority in the Maharashtra Assembly.
Pawar also criticized the central government for banning the export of onions.
