“At a time when some countries are busy exploiting COVID-19 to spread divisive disinformation or to further enhance their support for terrorism or to adopt aggressive policies, India’s response has been to immediately turn to the support of vulnerable countries. to the pandemic, accelerate urgently needed medical supplies, strengthen national health capacities and mitigate the diverse socio-economic impact of this crisis, “said Mr. Tirumurti.

He told the virtual commemoration that India throughout history has prioritized cooperation over conflict, coexistence over competition, sharing over reception, plurality over hegemony and inclusion, and democracy over exclusion and control. . “This has also underpinned our approach to development cooperation.”
Noting that India has always been a strong supporter of non-development resources in multilateral institutions, Mr. Tirumurti said that sustainability has been the focus of India’s development efforts.
“India avoids any effort to impose conditions or create indebtedness or restrict development space for developing countries. In this pursuit, the Fund has successfully targeted … Africa and other developing countries and regions and covers a diverse set of subject areas, “he said. he said, reiterating India’s full commitment to realizing the true potential of this extraordinary partnership for peace, prosperity and development.
He said that in the context of India, the term South-North cooperation is more appropriate since, throughout history, the country has always shared with others its knowledge in science, mathematics, astronomy, arts and then has moved on to share the “unique tools of our fight for freedom to inspire countries to free themselves from colonialism and, closer to our time, share the tools for human resource development, partnership for development and nation building” .
