Seniors can retake exams

State Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant made the announcement during a visit to the SPPU campus

State Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant announced Tuesday that seniors will be able to attempt exams multiple times during a visit to Savi-tribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

This occurs when senior exams at SPPU are postponed to begin on October 12 and the pattern changes as well.

The exam is online With the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format, the students had expressed their concerns.

Of the 2.5 lakh of students studying in the last year scheduled to take the exam, 2 lakh have registered for the exam online, while 50,000 will physically appear at centers in districts such as Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik.

Samant said: “Since the exam format is completely different, if students fail, they don’t need to wait the next six months to retake the exam. Students can immediately request to sit down for another attempt. We have made this decision because the exams are already late and the students should not waste any more time ”.

While the offline exam is scheduled in Nashik, Ahmednagar and Pune, the minister has also called for a coordination committee to be formed with local authorities such as Pune Municipal Corporation together with the collection office of each region, and appoint nodal officers so that the offline exam can be carried out without any difficulty.

Mahesh Kakade, Testing Department Director, SPPU, said: “The committee and officers will ensure that all rules are followed in the testing center. Also, if students face any difficulties, local authorities can intervene. Apart from this, those who apply for the exam online will also have a continuous helpline number flashing on the screen. If students face any technical difficulty, it will be resolved. SPPU has also designated a team of 15 staff members for a call center to address student issues. ”

The students had expressed concern about the MCQ pattern and what happens if someone misses the exam due to technical errors. One of the students from the commerce department said: “In case a student faces any technical problem while taking the exam, it should be solved immediately. Retries will ensure that if students miss exams, they can be tried in a few days. ”

According to the new guidelines issued by the Union government, schools in classes IX to XII and universities can reopen from October 15. However, the same will not be implemented in the universities of Maharashtra.

Samant said: “No decision will be made on the reopening of the universities until coronavirus the situation is under control. Also, the national disaster law is still in force in the state, therefore, even if exams are conducted, the university must obtain permission from the appropriate authority. Therefore, the decision to reopen the universities has not yet been made.
