SrinagarTwo terrorists, including a senior commander of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), were shot dead by security forces in an encounter in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation early Monday in the Old Barzulla area of Srinagar after receiving specific feedback on the presence of terrorists there.
The search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire on the group of security forces, who retaliated and sparked an exchange of fire.
The killed terrorists have been identified as Saif-ul-lah Danyali, a resident of Pakistan, and Irshad, a resident of Pulwama.
Danyali was involved in several recent attacks against security forces in and around Srinagar, according to police.
The Kashmir Police Inspector General said that Danyali was involved in the September 24 terrorist attack in Chadoora in which a deputy deputy inspector was martyred and had also carried out a terrorist attack in August in which three CRPF members were killed and three others were injured. .
LeT terrorist killed in Pulwama
Today’s encounter comes two days after two terrorists were shot dead by security forces in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A joint team of the Police, Army and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation in Dadura based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir police, LeT’s senior commander, Zahid Nazir Bhat, also known as Zahid Tiger, was among the two terrorists killed.
10 terrorists killed in 5 days
Meanwhile, DGP Dilbag Singh of Jammu and Kashmir said that 10 terrorists have been killed in four separate operations in the past five days.
This year, the security forces have carried out a total of 75 successful operations in which 180 terrorists have been killed, the senior police official said.
“Separately, 138 terrorists and their associates have been arrested. This year’s operational achievements have set records, ”Singh told a news conference.
