Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi received Padma Bhushan in the field of public affairs.

The Union Ministry of the Interior on the eve of Republic Day announced the recipients of the Padma awards. The Padma Awards, one of the largest civil awards in the country, are awarded in three categories, namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. These awards are given by the President of India at ceremonial functions that are held in Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March or April of each year. The awards are announced each year on the occasion of Republic Day.
This year, the President approved the award of 119 Padma Awards.
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been awarded Padma Vibhushan for his achievements in the field of public affairs. Other recipients include prominent singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who passed away in a Chennai hospital last year after nearly two months of treatment.
Former Lok Sabha Chairman Sumitra Mahajan, former Chief Secretary to Prime Minister Modi Nripendra Misra, former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan (posthumous), former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi (posthumous) are among the ten laureates. with Padma Bhushan this year.
