Sedition case: actress Kangana Ranaut, her sister summoned by Mumbai police next week

FOUR DAYS after a sedition case was filed against actor Kangana Ranaut and his sister Rangoli Chandel, the sisters were summoned by police on Wednesday.

Deputy Police Commissioner Abhishek Trimukhe said: “Kangana has been asked to report to the police on October 26, while Rangoli has been called on October 27.”

Following instructions from the metropolitan court, the police had registered a case on October 17. Women were registered in sections related to the commission of malicious or deliberate acts with the intention of outraging the religious feelings of citizens, sedition, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence o language and common intent of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the police, the FIR claims that through their tweets, the sisters tried to “defame the Indian Constitution and the image of the Maharashtra government, hurt the feelings of Muslims and try to create division between Hindus and Muslims.”

The complaint was filed by Munawwar Ali Sayyed, casting director and physical trainer. In his complaint, he claimed that he had worked with well-known film directors and, over the past few months, had observed on social media that Ranaut “continually vilifies the Bollywood film industry and portrays the people who work on Bollywood films as a center of nepotism, favoritism, drug addicts, community prejudices, murderers, etc. ”Through his tweets and television interviews.

Ranaut, who has criticized the state government led by Uddhav Thackeray, had also criticized the Mumbai police saying he did not trust her.
