On Tuesday, the Shiv Sena sharpened his attack on the Center, saying that ‘Y-Plus’ security was provided to a Bollywood actor, but the family of Hathras’ gang rape victim did not get any protection.
The 19-year-old woman was gang-raped on September 14 in the Bul Gargi village of the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh by four upper-caste men and died on September 29. The Uttar Pradesh police and various members of the local administration have been under scanner over their handling of the crime, which has sparked protests across the country.

The ‘Saamana’ party spokesman stated in his editorial that the victim’s family has been “receiving death threats and living under terror.” He also asked what would happen if Y-plus security coverage was required for the family.
“The Center gave Y-plus security coverage to a Mumbai actress, but the family of the victim of the Hathras gang rape does not receive any. This is not the principle of equal justice. This justice is not in line with the Constitution of Dr. Ambedkar, ”the editorial said.

The editorial referred to Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, who was given security cover in September after she made comments against Mumbai police for the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Ranaut and Shiv Sena engaged in a war of words after the former compared Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The Sena spokesperson also questioned the decision of the Uttar Pradesh government to recommend an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Hathras case at a time when the victim’s family has requested a judicial investigation into the matter. . On what would be the CBI course of action, he stressed that the UP government “destroyed evidence” by cremating the victim.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court requesting that CBI conduct a court-supervised investigation into the case. The affidavit also states that a “vicious campaign” has been unleashed to smear the state government, which is led by Yogi Adityanath.
