On Thursday, Mumbai police re-enforced Section 144 on the city from midnight to late September, raising concerns about whether the maximum city is on the threshold of a second wave of Covid-19. The Home Office has already dismissed rumors that India could impose a strict lockdown starting September 25 in the wake of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases being reported daily.
The reimposition of Section 144, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people in one area, effectively does not change anything, has been clarified.

one. The order is an extension of the existing order. Section 144 has already been imposed in Mumbai. No additional restrictions have been added.
two. Exemptions that have already been granted will continue.
3. Movement and gathering of people is prohibited, except for emergency and non-emergency services as it was there.

5. “While the city of Mumbai continues to be threatened by the spread of Covid-19, it is considered appropriate to issue a ban order to restrict any presence or movement of one or more people in public places or meetings of any kind anywhere, including those religious sites to prevent further spread of the Covid-19 virus in areas under the control of the Police Commissioner, Greater Mumbai, ”the order said.
6. WhatsApp messages began to circulate creating panic over new restrictions. Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray took to Twitter and clarified that no new restrictions have been imposed.
7. Maharashtra’s Covid-19 situation was raised in Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Maharashtra has contributed 40 percent of the Covid-19 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.
8. Mumbai recorded 2,411 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the count to 178,385.
