The victim’s body was cremated shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday, and her family said police had performed the last rites of force late at night even though they wanted to bring her body home one last time. .
The victim was initially admitted to a district hospital 15 days ago with a severed tongue and severely injured spinal cord, among other serious injuries. She was later transferred to Aligarh Hospital for treatment, before moving to Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital. Police said the victim had been dragged into a field and caught on a hook. They had also strangled her with her dupatta.
