“The city of Mumbai continues to be threatened by the spread of Covid-19, it is considered appropriate to issue a prohibition order to restrict any presence or movement of one or more people in public places or gatherings of any kind anywhere, including religious places … “said the order.
DCP Operations yesterday issued an order under Sec 144 CrPC, applicable in the city of Mumbai until September 30.
“It is issued according to state government guidelines on August 31 regarding easing of restrictions, gradual opening of the shutdown and the absence of new restrictions imposed by Mumbai police,” DCP PRO said.
In other words, under Section 144, the Mumbai Police imposed restrictions on movement and assembly in the city, but said the unlocking exemptions remain.
The movement of a person or persons is prohibited except in emergency and non-emergency services, Mumbai police added. Government / semi-government agencies and their duty officers are allowed during this order.
Food, vegetables, rations, milk booth and other stores that remain open.
Banks, the Stock Exchange, the Clearing Corporation, the depositories, the Stock Brokers and the participants registered in SEBI that operate through these institutions will be allowed to operate.
Hospitals, medical laboratories, pharmacy, pathology, medical nursing schools, and more will also be open.
Trucks or tempos that transport goods and labor related to the above services.
Other establishments that provide essential services such as telephone, Internet services, electricity, oil, petroleum, media services, e-commerce delivery and other activities related to basic and non-essential products are also allowed.
Meanwhile, Mumbai on Wednesday reported 2,378 cases on the day, bringing its tally to 1,75,974 while the cumulative death toll rose to 8,280, including 50 on the day.
The Mumbai division, which consists of the city of Mumbai and satellite towns, reported 5,603 new cases, bringing the total count to 4,14,377.
A total of 14,378 people have died so far in the region, the official said.
Maharashtra’s COVID-19 count shot up to 11,21,221 on Wednesday with the addition of a single day of 23,365 new cases, the state health department said.
With 474 deaths during the day, the total count in the state amounted to 30,883, he said.
A total of 17,559 patients were discharged after treatment during the day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,92,832, he said, adding that the state now has 2.97,125 active cases.
