The National Investigation Agency on Sunday found a secret chamber at the residence of suspected al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Sufiyan, one of six arrested in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, authorities said.
The camera, which measures 10×7 feet, was found during a raid on the home in the Raninagar area of the district, a senior district police officer said.
Several electronics and a lightbulb board were also found during the hour-long raid on the single-story home, he said.
Sufiyan’s wife later told reporters that the chamber was dug for a septic tank for an attached toilet.
“We have told the police about this,” he said.
During questioning, Sufiyan told investigators about the camera, the officer said.
Questioning of the six continued in Kolkata during the day, authorities said.

While six of them were arrested in Murshidabad district, three others were arrested in Ernakulam in Kerala.
The NIA special court judge, Prasenjit Biswas, ordered the preventive detention of the six people, arrested in Murshidabad, in the custody of the NIA.
They have been charged under various sections of the Illegal Activity (Prevention) Act.
Those arrested from Murshidabad were identified as Najmus Sakib, Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal and Atitur Rehman, according to an NIA spokesperson.
He said the group was planning terror attacks on vital facilities in India with the aim of killing innocent people and sowing terror in their minds.
They were seized digital devices, documents, literature, sharp weapons, firearms made in the country, a locally made body armor, items and literature used to make homemade explosive devices, according to the NIA statement.
