“Admission to B.Com. (Hons) generally stabilizes around the second and third lists. The first high cuts of the program were based on the experience of previous years. I am quite surprised to see that the program has been less popular with the highest scores this year and we will have to study and try to understand what has caused this, ”said Hindu College Principal Anju Shrivastava.

In the same universities, the cut of popular subjects such as Economics and English experienced a marginal drop. Hansraj has lowered its English limit from 98 to 97.75 percent, and Hindu has lowered its economy limit from 99.25 to 98.75 percent. SRCC has lowered its B.Com (Hons) limit from 99.5 to 98.5 percent, but kept the Economy limit the same as the first list at 99 percent. The limit for science subjects also dropped below that of arts and business subjects. At Dyal Singh College, for example, the limit for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics was lowered by 3, 3, and 4 percentage points, respectively.

Overall, while several major universities including Hindu, SGTB Khalsa, IP College for Women, Gargi, and Kamala Nehru closed admissions for many courses, others such as Lady Shri Ram, Miranda, Ramjas, Kirori Mal, SRCC, and Hansraj still have the most open courses.

Political science, history, English, and bachelor’s programs have become some of the most popular choices. While political science has closed in 23 universities, history has closed in 15 universities and English in 13 universities. Among science subjects, mathematics has become the favorite and the course is closed at 11 universities.
