‘Scientists Overcome Many Limitations’ – Prime Minister Modi Congratulates Isro On Launch Of EOS-01

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) on the successful launch of mission number 51 from the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) on Saturday. He commended the scientists associated with the mission and said they had overcome the main challenges posed by the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) to ensure a timely launch of the vehicle.

“I congratulate @Isro and the Indian space industry on the successful launch of the PSLV-C49 / EOS-01 mission today. In the time of COVID-19, our scientists overcame many constraints to meet the deadline, ”PM tweeted.

“Nine satellites have also been launched at the Mission, including four from the US and Luxembourg and one from Lithuania,” he said in another tweet. The nine customer satellites are from Lithuania (1), Luxembourg (4) and the USA (4).

The PSLV-C49 launch vehicle carried India’s latest Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-01), as well as nine satellites from client countries. The carrier was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 3:12 p.m.

According to Isro, the customer’s satellites were launched under a commercial agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the space department. The EOS-01 is intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support, the space agency said.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Isro was unable to undertake his other planned missions this year and this was his first mission of the year 2020.
