Starting October 19, India will see more unlocking as several states are preparing to resume schools, public transport starting tomorrow. The Interior Ministry has allowed maximum activities, including movie theaters and swimming pools that were closed until October. However, it has requested the respective state governments to decide to reopen based on the state’s Covid-19 situation.
Here is everything that opens from tomorrow:
Schools
Schools in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, will partially reopen from October 19. Seniors in classes 9-12 may come to schools with parental consent. Himachal Pradesh will also reopen schools for students in classes 10 and 12.
Uttar Pradesh
1. Classes will be held in shifts and schools must follow all necessary protocols, including social distancing and proper sanitation of facilities.
2. 50 percent of students must be called in each class one day and the remaining 50 percent the next day.
3. In case of cold or fever symptoms in a student, teacher or other employees, they will be sent home after primary treatment.
4. No student should be forced to come to school.
Punjab
1. Staff and students belonging to containment zones may not attend school or other educational institutions.
2. Schools will open three hours a day.
3. Only one student will be allowed to sit on a bench.
4. All doors to the school must remain open when entering and leaving to avoid overcrowding.
Sikkim
The Sikkim government has decided to reopen all schools gradually from October 19. The state partially opened schools on September 21. The state government has developed a new academic calendar that eliminates winter break and Saturdays to make up for lost time.
Subway
On October 14, the Maharashtra government allowed the resumption of metro services in the state from October 15. However, it took a few more days for the Mumbai metro to be ready for Covid and it has been running again since October 19.
1. Trains will run from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm.
2. Use of a mask, keeping social distancing mandatory.
3. Children, elderly people advised not to travel by metro.
4. Passengers with cards, electronic tickets will be allowed.
5. Carry minimal luggage and avoid metallic items.
National Park
Odisha’s Bhitarkanika National Park will be open to daytime visitors from October 19 after being closed for about seven months. Tourists for overnight stays were allowed from October 1. Starting tomorrow, 500 visitors per day will be admitted.
