Schools for students in classes 9 and 12 can reopen on a voluntary basis as of September 21


As the government begins unlocking activities in stages in Unlocking 4, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday issued SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for the partial reopening of schools for Class 9 and Class 12 students of voluntary way to seek guidance from teachers. This would be allowed as of September 21, the ministry said.

“The Ministry of Health issues SOPs for the partial reopening of Schools for students in classes 9-12 on a voluntary basis, for receiving guidance from their teachers in the context of Covid-19,” announced the Ministry of Health on Twitter.

The SOP in the new health ministry guidelines includes several security measures against Covid-19.

“These measures must be observed by everyone (teachers, employees and students) in these places at all times,” the ministry said in the guidelines issued.

Students in classes 9 and 12 who wish to visit your school to speak with their teachers about its academic aspects will need to provide written consent from their parents or guardians, the SOP said.

The Health Ministry issued social distancing precautions, such as washing hands and wearing face masks. Below are the guidelines mentioned in the POE published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare:

– A physical distance of at least 6 feet should be followed whenever possible.

– The use of covers / face masks will be mandatory.

– Frequent hand washing with soap (for at least 40-60 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty.

– The use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds) can be done whenever possible.

– Respiratory labels must be strictly followed. This involves the strict practice of covering your mouth and nose while coughing / sneezing with a bent tissue / handkerchief / elbow and discarding used tissues properly.

– Self-monitoring of health by everyone and notification of any illness as soon as possible.

– Spitting is strictly prohibited.

– Installation and use of the Aarogya Setu application can be recommended whenever possible.
