Punjab and Haryana are among the states that had previously granted permission to reopen schools in their respective states as of October 15, 2020, on a phased basis. Uttar Pradesh also agreed to reopen schools for students in classes 9 to 12 as of October 19, 2020. Punjab, however, has not shared the dates for the schools to reopen. Punjab school reopening update
As previously reported by the Punjab government, students in classes 9-12 could attend classes with parental consent from today onwards. The schools would run for 3 hours every day. However, attendance would not be mandatory for students. However, the decision about the school’s reopening date will be made after the Health Department issues the SOPs.
“The Punjab government has decided to reopen the schools. The SOPs for the reopening have been made and submitted for approval by the Health Department. We will announce the reopening date once the SOPs are approved,” Singla said while speaking to the media. .
“In the first phase, schools will be open for classes 9 to 12. Students must obtain written permission from their parents to attend classes. If a student does not want to attend physical classes, they can continue classes online from home. They will not be forced, they will have a choice, “he added.
The Punjab government had also issued new standard operating procedures for the reopening of schools that guided no more than 20 students per section. “Schools, which may open after October 15, must follow the standard operating procedures, which will be issued by the Department of School Education,” said an official.
Haryana School Reopening Update
As for Haryana, students in 6th to 9th grade classes can visit their schools to consult with teachers from October 15. “If all goes according to plan, students in these classes can consult their teachers from October 15,” Haryana State Education Minister Kanwar Pal said on October 7, 2020. Fifteen days earlier, the Haryana School Education Directorate had sent a letter to district education officials, allowing schools to open as of September 21, 2020 for students in classes 9-12. Although teachers and non-teaching staff have started to attend the school, there are no regular classes for students.

State School Reopening Dates: Latest Updates
Schools in Uttar Pradesh would reopen for classes of 9 to 12 students from all boards outside the containment zones from 19 October. The state government has decided that classes will be held in shifts and all-important processes will be carried out, including social distancing and proper disinfection of facilities followed in schools. Students in classes 9-12 will be allowed to attend classes only after obtaining written permission from their parents or guardians.
Schools must also follow all standard operating procedures, including social distancing, personal hygiene, wearing of masks, and disinfection within facilities in all states. Also, you must ensure that the minimum distance suggested by MHA is between 2 students. Teachers can be called in 2 shifts of 3 hours each, where the students are more numerous.
