SC will hear the guilty plea requesting the removal of Andhra CM

The Supreme Court will hear today from a PIL seeking the removal of YS Jaganmohan Reddy from the post of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for his “scandalous” remarks against the second highest ranking judge of the high court.

A high court bench, headed by Judge Uday Umesh Lalit, will hear the public interest litigation which also requested an explanation from Reddy for writing a letter to Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde making “crazy and reckless” accusations against the judge. NV Ramana.

The PIL, jointly presented by attorneys GS Mani, Pradeep Kumar Yadav and SK Singh, argued that Jagan Mohan Reddy faces more than 20 criminal cases, including money laundering and corruption in court, which are very serious in nature.

Reddy should be removed as the Chief Minister, as he, in public and in the media, had made such accusations against the second highest-ranking judge of the higher court, Judge NV Ramana, without any basis, according to the statement. The statement said that the high court should take appropriate steps for his removal as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh against him.

“In order to obtain personal benefits from the court by abusing his power and position as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he allegedly made false, scandalized, vague comments and political accusations against a sitting judge of the superior court only to tarnish the image of the judiciary in the public mind, ”the statement read.

It also sought a detailed judicial investigation, through the constitution of an internal committee headed by sitting or retired judges of the Supreme Court or any authority, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), into the vague accusation made by Reddy against Judge Ramana. .
