On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed a statement by former BSF member Tej Bahadur challenging the Election Commission’s decision to reject his nomination papers in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Bahadur, who was fired from the service, wanted to compete on a Samajwadi party ballot against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi. The Allahabad High Court had previously dismissed his request for reversal of the election panel’s decision.
Last week, the superior court rejected his attorney’s request to postpone the hearing and reserved your order.
“Why should we give him the freedom to postpone the session? You are abusing the legal process. You argue, ”a bank headed by the Chief Justice, SA Bobde, told Bahadur’s lawyer.
The lawyer argued that Bahadur had previously submitted his nomination as an independent candidate and later as a candidate for the Samajwadi Party.
