The notice sent on October 14 by Sandip’s lawyer, Rajesh Kumar, records the numerous cases in which Republic TV and its editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami allegedly defamed him. Calling it “propaganda to smear” Ssingh’s image, the ad claimed the sole motive was “to extort and seize TRP.”
When announcing the measure on his official social media account, Sandip claimed that members of the news channel sent him several messages “with criminal intent and with the intention of extorting money.”
The producer also requested Rs 200 crore as compensation and apologized for the allegations and even for transmitting “false images”.
Sharing the notice on social media, Sandip wrote, “It’s time to recover.”
The notice asks the channel to remove all malicious images, articles and reports about Sandip and to present an apology, which must include “true facts” about its integrity.
If the notice is not complied with within 15 days, Ssingh warned that the process would start in court to seek damages for defamation.
Last month, Sandip had challenged everyone who accused him of being a ‘drug dealer’ to present evidence.
“I have never smoked a cigarette in my life and never even tasted a drop of alcohol. But people declared me a drug dealer. Let them present only one proof. I challenge you,” he had told ANI.
