Sandip Ssingh – Drug charges against PM Biopic Maker to be investigated: Minister of Maharashtra

Drug charges against first biopic producer to be investigated: Maharashtra minister

Anil Deshmukh said he will forward the complaints against Sandip Ssingh to the CBI.

Mumbai:

Faced with accusations by the BJP that it had “overlooked” the drug use charges surrounding the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput to protect those close to the state’s ruling parties, the Maharashtra government responded on Saturday.

State Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh said he will call for an investigation into the allegations against filmmaker Sandip Ssingh, best known for producing a biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the 2019 national elections, and said he had received many complaints about him.

“The CBI is going to investigate Sandip Ssingh, who made the biopic about the Prime Minister – what is he related to the BJP? Similarly, what connection does he have to Bollywood and drugs? I have many complaints about it as well. We will forward these investigation requests, “Deshmukh said.

Congress, which is part of the ruling coalition in Maharashtra along with Shiv Sena and Deshmukh’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), had demanded on Friday that the “BJP angle” in the Sushant Singh Rajput case be investigated.

Amid accusations against the Maharashtra government that it was trying to thwart the investigation into Sushant Singh’s death, State Congress spokesman Sachin Sawant claimed that the CBI was going to question Sandip Ssingh on drug-related charges.

“There is a definite angle from BJP. CBI will investigate the producer of PM Modi’s biopic on drug trafficking. This is very serious … Is that why there was a rush to bring CBI into the probe? When there are several leading Bollywood producers, why was Sandip Singh chosen to direct the project? “Sawant said.

“The Chief Minister, the Home Secretary should investigate the link between Bollywood, drugs and BJP … The links between BJP and Bollywood are well known. Was the CBI lawsuit pursued to save anyone? The Maharashtra government should investigate this angle, “he said. .

BJP State Spokesperson Keshav Upadhaye dismissed Sawant’s lawsuit and posted a link to a 2015 article that said Smita Thackeray, Bal Thackeray’s daughter-in-law, planned to produce a biopic about the late Supreme Shiv Sena in association with Sandip Ssingh. .

“Do your homework. Will you find a link on this too?” Mr. Upadhye asked.

Earlier this week, the Office of Narcotics Control launched an investigation following new allegations in the Sushant Singh Rajput case linked to WhatsApp chats allegedly found on the phone of his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

The 34-year-old actor was found dead on June 14 at his flat in the suburbs of Bandra. The Supreme Court recently upheld the transfer of an FIR, filed by Sushant Singh’s father in Patna against Ms Chakraborty and others for allegedly driving her son to suicide and financially misleading her, to the CBI.
