Bangalore: Days after the state’s sandalwood drug scandal broke, the political blame game began on Saturday.
While famed manager Prashanth Sambaragi, who had spilled the beans on Sandalwood’s drug ties, accused former Minister BZ Zameer Ahamed Khan of having ties to Rahul, who was arrested on Friday, Tourism Minister CT Ravi charged that he was he mounted a lot of political pressure to silence even the case against Ragini.
While the acting president of Congress, Saleem Ahamed, and the leader of the opposition, Siddaramaiah, wanted the minister to spell out the names of the lobbyists, the interior minister, Basavaraj Bommai, supported Ravi’s accusations about the Pressure.
Although Sambaragi named Zameer, it is no secret in Karnataka that many politicians and their children attend high-profile parties. Most politicians are in contact with celebrities and those who organize such parties. Many of the politicians, regardless of political party affiliations, also want to feature their children on the big screen and get in touch with party organizers.
The BJP has a lot at stake in the whole case. First of all, Karthik Raj, whose name came up right after Ravi Shankar’s own arrest, is a member of BJP. He had joined the BJP during the last by-election and had campaigned in the Shivajinagar constituency.
Even Ragini Dwivedi wanted to become a brand ambassador for the Karnataka government in the fight against depression. He had met with Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa once and Minister of Health and Family Welfare B Sriramulu twice in this regard. However, things were unable to move forward due to the lockdown and outbreak of COVID-19. Ragini had also campaigned for a BJP candidate in a personal capacity during the 2018 general election.
