The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series arrived about two months ago and we are already moving towards the next one. Samsung’s usual flagship launch cycle involves an S series launch in the first quarter and a Note series launch in the third quarter of each year. Here’s our first look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 (or Samsung Galaxy S30, depending on what Samsung will call its next release).
These leaked renders come to us courtesy of @OnLeaks, which has a very good track record of leaked renders, so we are inclined to believe that these look like what we can expect from the final product. The next launch in the Samsung Galaxy S series could be called the Samsung Galaxy S21 or the Samsung Galaxy S30, depending on how Samsung’s decision-making machine wants it to turn.
As we can see, the biggest change on the Samsung Galaxy S21 is the rear camera island, which now starts from the corner and wraps around the three rear cameras. The frame of the device is expected to be made of metal. We can also detect a USB Type-C port on the bottom, in addition to the speaker grilles.
On the front, there is a 6.2 ″ flat screen with a single, centered, perforated selfie camera. OnLeaks mentions that the device will measure around 151.7 x 71.2 x 7.9mm, and the camera bulge will take that thickness down to 9mm.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S series is expected to involve three phones: the Regular variant, the Plus variant, and the Ultra variant, although the name could change here and there. Also, the devices are expected to launch before the usual launch window, with OnLeaks mentioning a launch as early as January 2021.
Other rumors Mention that Samsung could be left with only modest updates, rather than a revolutionary rethink or upgrade across the board. @IceUniverse suggests Samsung could stick with its 25W TA-800 charger for the Regular and Plus variants, the same charger it includes with many of its other phones at different price points, such as the Galaxy M31s and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Samsung could also include an S Pen with the high-end variants of the S series. Another rumor suggests that the company might be looking to buy displays from multiple partners, rather than stick with Samsung Display. Keep in mind that these are all certainly rumors, and we will hear more in the coming days.
