One of the four people accused of raping 46-year-old Sadhvi at his ashram on Monday night in the Godda district of Jharkhand was arrested on Tuesday, while a special investigation team (SIT) was set up to catch the others. three defendants, police said. . The arrested defendant was identified as Deepak Rana (22), who, according to the police, confessed to his crime.
An FIR was filed against four people, including two unidentified men, who allegedly broke into the ashram to commit the crime, based on the complaint lodged by the Sadhvi at the Mufassil police station.
Godda Police Superintendent YS Ramesh said: “A detailed investigation has been launched into the case. All forensic evidence has been collected and a special forensic team has been called in, ”he said.
The officer in charge of the Mufassil Police Station, Jyotish Jaiswal, said that the rape survivor, in her complaint, said that four people, including Deepak Rana and Ashish Rana, broke into the Ashram around 2.15am. The Sadhvi alleged that she was dragged from her room and threatened to kill her before Deepak and Ashish raped her.

The ashram, located in the Godda district, is said to be spread over four acres of land and six people, including five women and one man, reside there.
The only male member in the ashram said: “Four armed men entered the ashram on Monday night. When I tried to stop them, they beat me and locked me in a room. They also locked four other Sadhvis in separate rooms. We also took the victim to our room. But they dragged her out and locked me up from the outside. “

He said the victim was from Dhanbad, but lived in Varanasi. “She had come to the ashram in February to preach. However, she was unable to return to Varanasi due to the closure, ”she said.
