SAD calls on Center not to introduce agricultural ordinances in parliament until farmers’ stocks are addressed | India News

CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday called on the union government not to present the three central agricultural ordinances for approval in parliament until all reservations expressed by the ‘Kisan’ organizations, as well as farmers and khet mazdoor are properly managed.
A decision to this effect was made at a meeting of the SAD central committee that was chaired by the SAD president. Sukhbir Singh Badal at the party’s headquarters here.
An official spokesperson said that the central committee felt it was their responsibility to get farmers’ stocks addressed and stated that they were committed to addressing all issues raised by farmers with the union government. The committee noted that the SAD leadership led by its president had met with farmers’ organizations, farmer representatives and representatives of ‘khet mazdoor’ in recent days.
“He also had conversations with agricultural experts to find out their points of view, as well as the opinion of the workers of the rank-and-file party and the party’s senior leadership.” The statement said a considered view had emerged that the Union government should not rush to pass the three core ordinances until the apprehensions transmitted to the SAD are addressed.
Sukhbir told the central committee that he had also been approached by farmers and agricultural organizations from neighboring states and that all had expressed apprehension about the central ordinances and urged SAD to address their issues and complaints with the central leadership. “Taking this into account, the DUA also believes that the concerns should be taken into consideration by the center.”
Meanwhile, the central committee deemed it appropriate for the SAD president to lead a delegation to discuss farmers’ concerns with the central government. The delegation will hold meetings with the government of the Union, as well as with other related parties to address the arrests of farmers in the coming days.
The central committee also passed a resolution that it would never compromise the interests of farmers, no matter what. “Sardar Parkash Singh Badal It remains the undisputed leader of Indian farmers. Farmers are the life and blood of our party. We have always fought to protect the interests of the farming community, including farmers and ‘khet mazdoor’. We will continue to do so. No sacrifice is too great to guarantee the future of our farmers, ”the SAD president told the central committee members.
