Sachin Tendulkar reacts to Shreyas Iyer’s thunderous punch in DC v KKR blockbuster

Shreyas Iyer played a captain’s stroke to help Delhi Capitals post a mammoth total of 228 runs in their assigned 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday (October 3).

Shreyas broke a well-made 88 in just 38 deliveries and received good support on his way from Rishabh Pant, who hit 38 runs on 17 balls as DC set a 229 run goal for KKR.

Iyer’s tremendous punch also earned him good feedback from former Indian cricketer and hitting legend Sachin Tendulkar.

When asked to hit first, Delhi Capitals flipped the team scoring more than fifty runs on the power play. Both starters Shikhar Dhawan and Shaw started well, hitting sixes and four at regular intervals.

However, Dhawan’s rampage came to an end after he finished off the ball in midair and Eoin Morgan took a perfect catch on the sixth lap.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer then joined Shaw and dominated the KKR bowling attack. Shaw broke four sixes before Kamlesh Nagarkoti finished her stint on the fold in 13th.

Rishabh Pant then joined Captain Shreyas in the middle and the duo hit KKR’s bowling attack with their fabulous hitting performance. The duo hit 18 runs in the 16 and 17 runs in the 17.

Meanwhile, Shreyas also completed his fastest half century in IPL. Delhi Capitals crossed the 200-run mark on 18th in splendid innings courtesy of Pant. Andre Russell finished off Pant’s hit in 18th. The left-handed hitter broke 38 17-ball runs.

Marcus Stoinis came in at bat ahead of Shimron Hetmyer in the death overs, but failed to leave a mark. Meanwhile, Shreyas continued his onslaught against the KKR bowlers. However, a good final from Russell restricted Delhi Capitals to 288/4. For KKR, Russell chose two, while Chakravarthy and Nagarkoti started a wicket each.
