Russian President Vladimir Putin Takes Note as Prime Minister Narendra Modi Speaks at SCO Meeting in Front of Chinese President Xi Jinping | India News


New DelhiPrime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the virtual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Tuesday (November 10, 2020) alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, and leaders of four Central Asian countries.

Surprisingly, Russian President Putin, who hosted the group’s presidency this year, was seen scoring the points in most of Prime Minister Modi’s speech. He was seen listening to PM Modi’s address very carefully and kept scoring the points.

The virtual summit also witnessed Chinese President Jinping and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan listening to Prime Minister Modi.

This was the first time Prime Minister Modi and Jinping were seen sharing a platform practically since the Galwan incident in June 2020.

Prime Minister Modi and President Xi will now be seen together at the BRICS virtual summit on November 17 and then at the G20 virtual summit on November 21.

During his speech, Prime Minister Modi indirectly criticized Pakistan as “unfortunate” that there are unnecessary and repeated attempts to put bilateral issues on the SCO agenda, violating the SCO Charter and the spirit of Shanghai.

Prime Minister Modi also criticized terrorism, saying: “We have always raised our voice against terrorism, illegal arms smuggling, drugs and money laundering.”
